Maid charged for using another woman's Emirates ID card

(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Filipino working as a maid in Dubai has been charged for allegedly using another woman's Emirates ID card to enter a building. On April 9, the 40-year-old domestic worker tried to enter a building to do some cleaning work when a security guard asked her to present her ID card.

The woman showed an ID card that belonged to another woman, the Khaleej Times reported.

The Pakistani security guard, 33, said it was a routine regulation procedure to ask people to present ID cards. He said the Emirates ID card the Filipina presented carried a photo of a different woman.

The security guard called the police after the maid insisted that the ID was hers. The police then arrested her.

On Wednesday at the Dubai Court of First Instance, she was charged with misusing another woman's personal identification document, as well as a misdemeanor of leaving her work with her sponsor without cancelling her visa.

She admitted she intentionally misused the ID card as she was an illegal resident. She has been placed in detention. A ruling will be issued on June 26.
