DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) waived, yesterday, the requirement to set up an identification plate at the entrance of houses authorised to engage in general, commercial or industrial activity, in accordance to Ministerial Decree No. 163 of 2018 issued by Minister of Economy and Commerce, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassem Al Thani.

The decree stipulated the requirement of placing a licence plate at the entrance of the authorised home should be cancelled, with no advertising or promotional posters placed on the house or its outer walls, and flags or barcodes prohibited.

The new resolution amends certain provisions of Decree No. 242 of 2016 on the conditions, rules and procedures for the granting of temporary licences to certain places and parts of places in which similar business, industrial or public works or to conduct business in the home, QNA reported.

The Ministry explained that the amendment came at the request of the public and incentive for small entrepreneurs to facilitate the applicants to conduct business at home, as the development of the identification board may expose the residents of the house licensed to engage in activity or part of the embarrassment, and the reason not to request the licence, given the privacy considerations of Qatari society, and to maintain the sustainability of domestic projects.

The Ministry said that this decision comes within the framework of its commitment to regulating the business environment and create an investment environment conducive to the private sector and entrepreneurs.
