Qatar to face Mexico in Toulon Tournament opener

Doha: Qatar's Under-19 team will open their Toulon International Football Tournament campaign against Mexico in Toulon, France tomorrow.

Qatar are pooled in Group A along with China, England and Mexico in the tournament which will see 12 teams vying for the top honour.

Qatar's first match will be played at the Stade de Lattre-de-Tassigny in Aubagne and the kickoff is at 5.30pm (6.30pm Qatar time).

In their second match, Qatar will take on China on May 29 at the Stade d'Honneur Marcel Roustan in Salon-de-Provence.

Al Annabi will play their final Group match against England on June 1.

The play-offs will take place on June 5, followed by the semi-finals on the next day. Final of the tournament will be played on June 9 in Martigues.

Only four teams from Asia - China, Japan and South Korea will be in contest along with Al Annabi during the tournament.

This is the fifth occasion Qatar is taking part in the tournament which is in its 46th edition.

Togo and Canada will compete for the first time. Hosts France, Portugal, Scotland and Turkey are the other participating nations.

The Toulon Tournament is expected to offer the Al Annabi juniors a lot of exposure and experience ahead of the upcoming AFC Under 19 football Championship which will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 18 to November 4.
