Qatar- EAA Ramadan campaign to support education projects around the world

DOHA: Education Above All (EAA) Foundation has launched a campaign to raise funds during the Holy month of Ramadan with an aim to provide quality education to impoverished and marginalised children, youth and women around the world.

The campaign will raise awareness about the challenges the world face in accessing quality education as well as collect donations at different locations across the country. The funds raised will support EAA's projects around the world as it works across five countries, said officials yesterday.

EAA's programmes, Educate A Child (EAC), Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), and Al Fakhoora, which include several projects in Gaza, West Bank, and for Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, Turkey and Syria and for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and Somalia will benefit from the funds raised during the Ramadan campaign.

EAA Foundation is eligible to receive Sadaqah and Zakat donations. 'We are elated to be eligible to receive Sadaqah and Zakat Donations after a careful screening process. Education Above All Foundation believes education is the key to unlocking a human's potential and a driver of human development.

'We work to support the world's hardest to reach people who have been affected by poverty, conflict, natural disasters, and discrimination to give them the power to change their lives for the better, Mohamed Al Naama, Senior Representative of Fundraising Department at EAA, said addressing a press conference yesterday, held at the Student Centre in Education City.

He also said that the campaign has not fixed any target amount of funds to be collected and it will be initially during the month of Ramadan and would be possibly extended.

Donations can be made through donation boxes at 40 locations including shopping malls and public places, at cash counters in Lulu supermarkets and Al Meera stores and by contacting +974 44542288, or visiting the EAA website: Educationaboveall.org and for payments by credit card or through personal Ooredoo Mobile Money Account.

While, on Wednesday Al Rayyan TV will air a special episode for EAA's fundraising campaign on its programme, Layali Ramadan.

'Zakat and Sadaqah hold extreme importance in empowering underprivileged. The remarkable work achieved by EAA Foundation deserves support from the donating organisations and people to come out in greater numbers and make this campaign a stupendous success.

'While going through their work to empower the world's poorest and most marginalized by educating out of school children, youth and women, we wholeheartedly support this endeavor, said Prof. Dr Ali M. Al Quradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and Vice Chairman for European Council for Fatwa and Research.

Also during the Ramadan campaign EAA will create awareness about the challenges, such as poverty, conflict and natural disasters, which millions around the world face in accessing a quality education. For this, EAA has partnered with several partners across Qatar, including LuLu Hypermarket outlets, Qatar Foundation, ExxonMobil, Al Meera Stores and many others.

EAA through its projects provides and increases access to educational facilities, projects and resources; improves the quality of education and engages youth as leaders in defining and advocating for innovative solutions.
