Colombia: possible dam collapse leaves 120,000 lives endangered


(MENAFN) The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) declared that Red Cross emergency volunteers are ready to assist nearly 120,000 people endangered by probable hydroelectric dam collapse in the northeast of Colombia.

The IFRC confirmed that just 6,485 of the 120,000 people at high risk have been cleared out up till now.

Walter Cotte, Regional Director for the Americas at the IFRC announced: "It is a priority to guarantee the orderly evacuation of people in the municipalities most at risk,"

He added: "We are preparing for the worst,"
