(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- For the first time ever Oman has been truly put on the international media map.
The Hi FM Morning Show with Robin Banks and George Ryland has been nominated for a prestigious New York Radio award.
The annual New York Radio Awards celebrate and recognise the best of global radio. Other nominees this year that Hi FM is against include major worldwide brands such as BBC, SiriusXM and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
The category is Best Music/Personality Show and the awards will take place in New York on June 18.
Banks and George have been doing Hi FM's Morning Show for nearly two years and it's a totally different type of radio show to anything that you may have heard before.
'We have a laugh and don't take ourselves seriously at all,' said Banks. George said, 'Maybe now we'll get some listeners?'
Eihab al Salah CEO of OHI that owns Hi FM said, 'I am overjoyed that there is another reason that we are putting Oman on the map. It is of course amazing news for Hi FM. I'm so pleased that they are the first and only station here in Oman to be internationally recognised in the vastly competitive world radio market.'
