Underage Flamengo forward Vinicius Jr admits fast progress

(MENAFN) Flamengo forward Vinicius Junior has hailed his rapid progress in the club as a teenager, noting it struck him sooner than anticipated, as he prepares for a move to play in Real Madrid.

The Brazilian professional footballer is set to move to Real Madrid in January, with his club in talks for the 17-year-old star to remain with them until 2019.

The teen superstar has made a total of 54 first-team appearances for Flamengo club one year following his debut, as he managed to secure ten goals.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, the athlete said "I'm supposed to still be playing at underage level," adding "I skipped some stages, which I'm happy about."

He continued "one year is not long. The more experienced players helped me get to where I am now with my current mentality on and off the pitch. But I didn't think everything would happen so fast."
