Rafael Nadal wins 11th Monte Carlo Masters title

(MENAFN) Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has won the 11th Monte Carlo Masters title after defeating Japanese Kei Nishikori 6-3, 6-2 in Sunday's final, keeping the first rank in the world.

The Spanish athlete swatted aside Nishikori, marking him as the first player to claim victory in a tournament eleven times in the Open era with his 76th ATP Tour title.

It was the star's first ATP gane ever since giving up an Australian Open quarter-final against Marin Cilic following a hip injury he suffered from in January.

Nadal said "I know the day to say goodbye is closer than 10 years ago. Is something that I am not worried about, but it's a real thing."

He added "so I'm just enjoying every day and trying to play with the best attitude possible, to keep being happy playing tennis."
