Saudi, Britain discuss Yemen crisis

(MENAFN) Saudi foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir said theta the kingdom agreed with Britain on the need to deter Iran and stop its support for 'terrorism'.

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, for his part, said that the Persian State was destabilizing the region and playing a destructive and dangerous role in Yemen.

"We supported the transitional process and the political dialogue in Yemen," the Saudi minister said, stressing that the war "was imposed on us" and that Houthi militias have thwarted all attempts to reach a political solution in the country.

He pointed out that Britain would seek an international meeting to discuss with Saudi Arabia a political solution in Yemen, stressing that everyone understood the Kingdom's efforts to protect its borders.

"The two sides will launch a strategic partnership comprising all areas," Al-Jubeir said, referring to the Strategic Partnership Council.

It's worth remembering that Saudi Arabia and some other countries attacked Yemen in March 2015 to re-empower the deposed president of Yemen Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.
Thousands of Yemenis have been killed in the Arabian-American coalition's attack and more than 2,000 have died due to cholera epidemic.
