Pakistan- Tribal youth killed in Karachi, laid to rest in Bajaur

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) KHAR, 19 February: The tribal youth killed in mysterious circumstances in Karachi a few days ago, has been laid to rest in his ancestral village Mamoond in Bajaur tribal agency on Monday. Hundreds of people from different walks of life attended the namaz-e-janaza.

The 22-year old youth, Ahmad Shah was a master's student at the Karachi University's Zoology Department. According to media reports, Shah went missing on February 16 and a day later, his mutilated body was found from the limits of Mobina Town police station in Karachi. His family sources said the deceased was also doing a part time job in Sohrab Goth, Karachi.

Police officials said that Ahmad Shah was tortured to death. The police report said that there were no marks of bullet on the victim's body, rather, severe wound was found in his head which suggested that he was hit by an iron. The police official added that the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained.

Shah's father told reporters after the namaz-e-janaza that they had no enmity with anybody and alleged that his son was killed in a fake police encounter. He demanded of the government to order inquiry into the murder of his son.

'My son had a dream to acquire high education but unfortunately, he couldn't,' the father remarked in a choked voice.

Meanwhile, local leadership of the Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal) has announced to hold a protest sit-in in Inayat Kali bazaar on Tuesday to condemn the brutal murder of Ahmad Shah. The party's nominated candidate for National Assembly seat Mufti Sultah Muhammad has urged upon the government to locate the murderers of Shah, otherwise they would extend protest to the entire country.

The brutal murder of the tribal youth also echoed in the National Assembly on Monday where tribal legislators staged a token walkout of the session in protest against Shah's killing.

Tribal MNAs offered prayer for the soul of the slain student and walked out from the session.

It merits a mention here that Ahmad Shah is not the first tribal youth who has been killed in Karachi. Another youth from the South Waziristan's Makeen area, Naqeebullah Mehsud, was also killed in Karachi along with three other persons on January 13.

Police, initially, claimed that the four individuals were militants of the banned TTP and killed in an encounter. However, later, a high-level police inquiry proved that Mehsud was innocent and it was a staged encounter allegedly led by former SSP Malir, Rao Anwar.

Naqeebullah's murder was widely condemned and a campaign was started on social media following which the Supreme Court of Pakistan also took a suo moto notice of the incident and south detailed report from Sindh police.

The campaign was eventually transformed into a movement of youth from the Fata when they staged a protest sit-in in Islamabad ending with assurances from the federal government to arrest the perpetrators. The former SSP Mali is still at large.
