Tragedy

The wrestlers belonged to the Kranti Kushti Sankul institute in Sangli. Their coach, Vijay Mohite was also in the vehicle but got off at his village, a few minutes before the mishap.

The injured have been shifted to the closest hospital in Miraj.

A case has been registered against the tractor driver, who went absconding after the mishap.

Second incident of the month
Road safety concerns

The wrestlers were returning from a tournament in Pune's Satara district and the accident took place around 1 am in the night.

A similar incident occurred on the Delhi-Panipat highway earlier this month, in which five national power-lifters had died.

This seriously raises concerns about road safety in the country especially for those traveling in the late hours of the night.
