(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- The EU condemned Saturday an attack on MONUSCO, UN mission in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in North Kivu province Thursday night that killed at least 14 Tanzanian peacekeepers, five Congolese soldiers and scores of civilian and military casualties.
This unacceptable attack underlines the fragility of the security situation in eastern DRC, exacerbated by the current uncertainty about the country's political stability, said Catherine Ray, spokesperson for EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, in a statement.
The EU called on the DRC authorities to carry out an investigation so that those responsible can be brought swiftly to justice. (end) nk.bs
