India: university students' violent protest over student suicide
(MENAFN) Following the suicide of a student after being caught cheating in an exam, fierce protests have been in place at Sathyabhama University in Chennai.
According to local media, Wednesday night students at the university began lighting furniture on fire at their campus. University staff had been accused by protesters of humiliating the student and was driven to hang herself.
Students started their protest as reports of the incident spread; they shared footage and images on Twitter of blazing mattresses and furniture.
