Spain: attorney general Maza pass away at age 66
(MENAFN) Attorney general of Spain, aged 66, Jose Manuel Maza was appearing at a meeting in Argentina when he passed away unexpectedly. It was said that he was suffering with a kidney infection when he was taken to a hospital earlier on Saturday.
After a banned independence referendum in the region, last month Mr. Maza demanded for Catalan leaders to be charged. Even so, political leaders of Spain have expressed their condolences.
Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy expressed his "deepest condolences" on Twitter to Mr. Maza's loved ones, while Justice Minister Rafael Catala portrayed Mr. Maza as a remarkable attorney and public servant.
