Lebanese army commander says security situation under control


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Beirut: Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun on Friday stressed that the security situation in his country is under control and that the protection of national stability is an absolute priority of the army.

Aoun said in remarks that the delicate situation in the country requires all military personnel to redouble their field efforts, promote proactive security to eliminate terrorist cells, combat organized crime, arrest those outlaws who threat security and order no matter what party they belong to.

The Lebanese President Michel Aoun has called for the preservation of Lebanese national unity and the atmosphere of security and political stability as well as the protection of the achievements that have been made through the past year.

He directed the leaders of the security and military services to take the necessary measures to maintain security and stability, following the announcement of Prime Minister Saad Hariri's resignation.
