Discussions between Turkish Airlines and Airbus following Boeing deal


(MENAFN) Following a deal with opponent planemaker Boeing, Turkish Airlines (THY) started talks with Airbus to purchase up to 40 A350 jetliners worth USD12.4bn.

The aircraft"s first significant moves on growth since last year"s failed Turkish coup intended to signal a return coinciding with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan"s visit to the United Nations, though no deals have yet been sealed.

THY intended to buy 40 of its 787-9 Dreamliner jets worth USD11bn, Boeing said.

Furthermore, Boeing and the Turkish government also announced a mutual project to support the Turkish aerospace industry.
