Host Austin Craig explained the show's purpose in further detail: "At The New Creatives, we want to answer one question: What is creativity in the twenty-first century? When anybody with an internet connection can reach the whole world, when the tools of creativity are universally available, and when new platforms let virtually anybody create almost anything, then what exactly does the creative process look like?"
The contemporary world offers a limitless canvas for anyone seeking to create, and The New Creatives sets out to prove that there is no wrong way to be an artist. Season 1 features an incredible lineup of ingenious creators from all walks of life—the only thing they have in common is that they are all working outside the box. What makes The New Creatives unique is that in addition to giving you an inside look into a new creative process, the team works side-by-side with the featured artist to create something new. Austin Craig and Jordan Petersen are the brains and face of The New Creatives. Before coming together to create and host this series, Craig and Petersen teamed up in 2014 to found the Pocket Film Fest, a festival that showcases mobile-made films. Craig also conceptualized, crowd-funded, and starred in the documentary Life on Bitcoin (2014); additionally, he has a vast background in video marketing and creative content development. Petersen, who has an MFA in Screenwriting from Boston University, brings years of screenwriting, videography, and production experience to the table.
