(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Honda Civic won 'Best Compact Sedan' of the year adjudged by Middle East Car of the Year (MECOTY) 2017 recently at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi.
In addition to the MECOTY, the Civic has won 'Best Small Car' in the MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards, Saudi Auto 'Car of the Year' award as well as 'North American Car of the Year' award. The 10th generation Honda Civic was introduced in April 2016 with a 1.5l Turbo and a 2l engine.
Due to the success of the new model and to provide our customers with a wider variety, a 1.6l engine grade was introduced in December 2016 as an entry-level grade option. The Civic offers a five-grade line up with three engine sizes and a whole host of new and standard features depicting it as more modern, functional as well as an efficient sedan. Following the launch, regional sales of the Honda Civic rose by 93 per cent this year.
MECOTY being in its fourth year in this region is fast becoming one of the most prestigious awards adjudged by 15 renowned automotive journalists across the Middle East.

The Civic was thoroughly enhanced with Middle Eastern customer preferences in mind. The new Civic boasts of new exterior design, which is sporty with its athletic stance and low wide proportions with standard LED daytime running lights and distinctive C-shaped LED taillights. The Civic's interior has been designed to offer a comfortable, sophisticated space to the customer and a modernised feel to adapt to its sporty character. Some standard features in all grades include 60:40 fold down rear seats, rear seat armrest with cup holders, rear ventilation ducts, sun visor extension mechanism and map light.
Convenience features include Remote Engine Start, Smart Entry, Push Button Start, Electric Parking Brake with Brake Hold function, Auto Day and Night Rear View Mirror, Walk Away Locking, Cruise Control, Electronic Power Steering and Rear Parking Sensors. The 2l Civic is powered by the DOHC inline-four engine with i-VTEC producing a peak of 158hp at 6,500rpm and 187Nm torque at 4,200 rpm. The 1.5l Civic is powered by Turbo Charged DOHC, direct-injected inline-four engine with variable Valve Timing Control, churning out 180hp at 6,000rpm and a 220Nm torque at 1,700-5,500rpm. The Civic 1.6l is powered by an SOHC i-VTEC engine producing a peak horsepower of 123 at 6,500 rpm and a torque of 151Nm at 4,300 rpm. The Civic is available in a range of ten dynamic exterior colours and two interior colours.
