DUBAI, 28th March, 2017 (WAM) -- The 10th Fujairah Bunkering and Fuel Oil Forum, FUJCON 2017, kicked off on Monday at Al Diar Siji Hotel in Fujairah, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.
It is attended by the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre, EMAC, as a sponsor of the event.
The forum, which continues until 29th March, is the most important event of its kind in the Middle East in the field of bunkering, and the most prominent event as part of Bunkering Week, including training courses that specialise in bunkering and introductory tours for participants, laboratory visits, and other field visits for ships at the Fujairah Port.
The activities of the forum, with the participation of 50 countries from all over the world, cover different stages of the bunkering supply chain. The forum has contributed, since its launch, in strengthening the international stature of Fujairah and its prestigious stature as one of the best three bunkering centres worldwide, and an international leader in the storage of oil and its derivatives, as well as providing its products.
The EMAC will participate on Wednesday in the session that discusses the legal demands of the bunkering sector. The session will see the participation of an elite panel of the most prominent specialists in this field, including Sir Richard Briggs, Member of the EMAC Board of Trustees, who will demonstrate the means of support that the EMAC provides to the bunkering sector and the maritime community as a whole, relating to finding alternatives to settle and solve disputes that include regional arbitration and intervention.
Majid Obaid bin Bashir, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Secretary-General of the EMAC, said that its participation comes as part of its strong efforts to make a difference and ensure vital changes to the field of regional maritime arbitration.
