Syrian Cairo opposition platform rejects blaming group for disorder in talks


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GENEVA, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- Head of the Syrian Cairo opposition platform, Jihad Makdiss, rejected Sunday holding the group responsible for any trouble occurs in the march of political talks in Geneva.

This came during a news conference of the Syrian Cairo opposition platform during talks in Geneva following a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

Throwing the ball in the court of opposition will not be useful as there is a unified vision in many areas related to the political path in accordance with the UN Resolution 2254, which includes also the Geneva-I statement issued in 2012, he added.

He explained that the delegation and de Mistura discussed procedural steps of talks and how to work so as to draw up a new constitution, and hold fair and transparent elections.

The Cairo platform condemned bombings in the city of Homs yesterday as it always condemns terrorist acts committed by al-Nusra group and others, he explained. (end) ta.hm
