Domestic demand leads German expansion in Q4


(MENAFN) The German economy expanded its growth rate to 0.4% during the last quarter of 2016 on the back of higher state spending, increasing private consumption as well as construction over offset a drag from net foreign trade.

Moreover, the Federal Statistics Office revealed that exports boosted by 1.8% in Q4 and imports up by 3.1%.

On the other hand, the data also showed that state spending climbed by 0.8%, contributing 0.2 percentage points to expansion.

Never the less, German household spending surged by 0.3% on the preceding quarter, further adding 0.2 percentage points to GDP in the three months till December.
