UAE, Finnish officials discuss strengthening co-operation in housing, infrastructure

DUBAI, 19th January, 2017 (WAM) -- Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Zayed Housing Programme, today met with Kai Mykanen, Finland's Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, and Riitta Swan, Finnish Ambassador to the UAE, to discuss ways of promoting co-operation between the two countries.

The UAE Minister briefed the Finnish officials about the UAE's infrastructure development plans, and said that the Ministry and the National Housing Scheme seek to pursue highest international standards to ensure the well-being of citizens and residents while working for the country's overall progress, economic growth and the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021.

Officials from the Ministry also spoke about the vital role of innovation in driving growth in the UAE and enabling the country to improve its global competitiveness ranking.

Mykanen lauded the UAE's achievements in the infrastructure space and the housing sector in particular, noting he had seen huge progress during his current visit to the country.

He said that the Emirati projects and initiatives he had learnt about could be global models in the infrastructure and housing sectors.
