Qatar Charity aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) As part of its continuous campaign, 'Syria...cold and hunger, Qatar Charity, supported by Qatari philanthropists, provided urgent winter aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, to help them overcome tough conditions during winter.
2000 Syrian families in Lebanon benefited from the relief aid including heating, shelter, food, health services and medicines.
"QC is in a race against time to help protect thousands of Syrian refugees in Lebanon from the severe cold. QC's teams conducted a survey to identify the priorities of the Syrians refugees and changed the courses of the storm water run-off to protect Syrian refugee camps in Arsal, Lebanon," said Faisal Al Fahida, QC's executive director of operations.
Al Fahida extended his thanks and appreciation to Qatari philanthropists and humanitarian organisations for their efforts in helping and supporting the affected Syrian people. He said QC has launched many campaigns since the Syrian crisis that began in 2011 including "Syria, endless winter" to implement many huge relief projects that would alleviate the pain of the Syrians.
QC has launched the campaign — "Syria…..Cold and Hunger" — to help Syrians face the harsh winter conditions either in Syria or in neighbouring countries. The campaign aims at collecting more than QR100m, and provide help to about 3.5 million people in many fields including shelter, food and health.
The campaign was launched after the opening of "below zero" exhibition, which was organised by QC. The refugee simulation exhibition displayed the life of Syrian refugees and those internally displaced in shelters. The exhibition, "below zero, aims at educating visitors on the sufferings of Syrian refugees.
QC will provide help to affected Syrians in the following areas: shelter including tents, equipped caravans, winter clothing, blankets, toiletries and food including safe drinking water, flour, bread, ready meals to eat. QC is running bakeries and kitchens, providing health services including medical equipment, first aid kits, medicines, ambulances and building and operating hospitals.
