Football: Lyon keeper Lopes suffers post-traumatic hearing loss after firecracker attack

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes has been diagnosed with post-traumatic hearing loss in both ears after firecrackers were thrown at him during leading to the abandonment of the French league game against Metz on Saturday.

Lopes said that the hearing loss "won't have any consequence on (his) future."

Lyon later said in a statement Sunday that Lopes' eardrums have not been affected. "Anthony Lopes will also need to overcome the psychological trauma provoked by this odious aggression," Lyon said. Lopes said he consulted with an ear, nose and throat specialist on Sunday, adding that he would undergo two weeks of treatment. He did not mention whether it would prevent him from playing." - Agencies
