Egypt collects 9 medals at Sahl Hasheesh Triathlon


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egyptian athletes obtained nine medals at the 2016 Sahl Hasheesh Triathlon on Friday.

The first race in the morning saw Egyptians Khaled Essam, Omar Magdy, and Mohamed Gaber win gold, silver, and bronze respectively in the male race, while Egyptian Basmala El-Salamony won gold in the women's competition, followed by British Mady Morgan and Croatian Nives Gajic. The race consisted of swimming for 750 metres, cycling for 20 kilometres, and running for 5 kilometres.

In the championship's second category, Egypt's Mohamed Shafshak, Islam Mahmoud Mohamed, and Osama El-Zeftawy won gold, silver, and bronze respectively in the men's division, while Egypt's Maram Yasser and Mariam Saleh Aly won gold and bronze in the women's competition, as the silver medal went to British Olivia Walker. The race consisted of swimming for 350 metres, cycling for 10 kilometres, and running for 2.5 kilometres.

The children's championship, which consists of running for 2 kilometres, was won by Russia's 10-year-old Matvei Karpitckii.
