Kuwait- Team Egypt win the 'Challenge Cup' - BAS, Romanian Embassy hold 3rd International Basketball tourney


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Team Egypt and Team Lebanon line up for their final game. KUWAIT CITY, Nov 28: The British Academy of Sport (BAS) and the Romanian Embassy in Kuwait organized the Third International Basketball Tournament between various Embassies in Kuwait on Friday 25 November at the BSK Campus.

A total of 12 teams represented their countries: Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Great Britain, Greece, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Philippines, Romania, Serbia and USA. The opening ceremony saw the teams parade with their flags and mascots dressed in national costume past the reviewing stand of VIPs, seven Ambassadors, including HE the British Ambassador Matthew Lodge and the Patron of the Tournament HE the Romanian Ambassador Daniel Tanase. The captains drew the numbers, the games began and the spectators from the various communities spurred on their teams with a great sense of national pride.

It was an amazing day with very strong teams and challenging matches. The semifinals were played between Lebanon and Serbia and Egypt against Jordan. The winners of the 'Challenge Cup' were the Egyptian Team who won 4 rounds including the final game against the Lebanese Team.

The Director of British Academy of Sport, Lucian Anisia, the HR Director Adam Al Saleh joined HE the Romanian Ambassador on stage and the special Guest Faisal Buressli representing FIBA for a lively Presentation Ceremony when medals and gift bags were distributed to everyone. There was a tremendous roar of celebration from the partisan Egyptian supporters when Captain Ahmed Saqer held the Challenge Cup aloft.
