Japan to Send Mission to N. Korea Next Week


(MENAFN- QNA) Japan and North Korea will hold talks in Pyongyang for two days from next Tuesday on the North's ongoing investigation into the fates of Japanese nationals abducted decades ago, the government in Tokyo said Wednesday.

A delegation of around ten Japanese officials, led by Junichi Ihara, director general of the Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, will leave Monday and return home on October 30, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said at a press conference.

Japan is trying to arrange a meeting with So Tae Ha, chairman of North Korea's special investigation committee on the issue to directly receive a briefing on the probe. So is vice minister of state security, according to Japan's News Agency (Kyodo).
