(MENAFN- QNA) The US administration criticized Tuesday Israel's announcement of confiscating 3,800 dunams of Palestinian land in the West Bank for settlement activity.
A US State Department Spokesman described Israel's decision as counterproductive to peace efforts hoping to broker a two-state solution with Palestinians. He added that the US administration called on the Israeli government to reverse the decision.
He added that the US administration has always been clear in its opposition to Israel's illegal settlement activity. He stressed that every settlement Israel builds on Palestinian land hampers the prospects of reaching a two-state solution.
Israel confiscated the lands from five villages in Bethlehem amid outrage from the international community.
