Qatar trade surplus signs USD9.2b in May 2014


(MENAFN) Qatar's foreign trade surplus grew to hit USD9.2 billion in May from USD8.33 billion last year, up 7.8 percent, The Peninsula Qatar reported



The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics said that oil and gas and other gaseous hydrocarbons exports jumped 10.7 percent annually to USD7.33 billion in May



In May 2014, the major countries of destination for Qatar's exports were Japan with USD2.50 billion, a share of 22.1 percent of total exports, South Korea with USD1.96 billion (17.3 percent), and India with USD1.53 billion (13.5 percent)



The import of motor cars and other passenger vehicles was at the top during May 2014, with USD134.8 million, down 22.4 percent compared to May 2013
