(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Lg electronics has announced the commercial launch of its new flagship smartphone the g3 in the uae and other gulf states from july 3.

“we are going to start pre-launch booking from june 23 to 30 to ensure immediate delivery of the new device to our customers across the uae” sungsoo hong mobile head division of lg electronics gulf told khaleej times on the sidelines of launch event in dubai on wednesday.

the south korean firm launched the high-end strategic smartphone simultaneously in six major international cities — new york london san francisco seoul istanbul and singapore last month.

“we have a tie-up with both telecom operators in the uae — etisalat and du — to get an exclusive data packages with a g3 purchase” hong said.

to a question about the price range for the g3 models — which will be available in two variants 16gb (with 2gb ram) and 32gb (with 3gb ram) — he said it is not yet finalised but it would be competitive with other high-end smartphones available in the market.

according to senior lg executives the g3’s launch price is expected to be at par with samsung’s galaxy s5 which is available for dh2699 (16gb) and dh2899 (32gb) at all major retailers in the uae. hong said the new device would further boost lg’s market share like its predecessor the g2 which was launched about nine months ago in dubai.

“the g2 received overwhelming response from global markets and we expect that g3 sales will be four times better than its predecessor” he said.

referring to media responses and evolutions he said the g3 is the fastest-selling smartphone in first half of 2014 as it topped with a 55.24 per cent share of total smartphones sales followed by sony xperia z2 (18.55 per cent) htc one m8 (15.3 per cent) and samsung galaxy s5 (10.92 per cent).

the lg g3 is the first smartphone in the industry with the laser auto-focus feature. it is equipped with the android 4.4.2 kitkat operating system a 3000 mah (removable) battery and a single-sim configuration.

the new smart device also bears a 5.5-inch high-resolution quad hd ips display with a staggering pixel density of 538ppi. it also features a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabliser plus technology and also introduces three smart initiatives namely smart keyboard smart notice and smart security.

“the lg g3 will captivate and excite uae consumers at the same time with the most advanced technology and simplified user experience currently in the smartphone market” said d. y. kim president of lg electronics gulf.

“the lg g3 is an upgrade to the g2 with a range of upgraded features with the industry first laser auto focus and the 5.5-inch quad hd display with four times the resolution of normal hd and two times higher resolution than a full hd display. we are confident the lg g3 will be a huge hit with uae consumers as we have taken the smartphone to new heights” he added.

the floating arc design of the g3 with its ergonomic arch and slim side profile provides an extremely comfortable grip for everyday one-handed use.

the stylish metallic skin with matte finish which keeps the g3 looking clean and fingerprint-free will be offered in five vibrant colours — metallic black silk white shine gold moon violet and burgundy red.
