Kuwaiti military team clinch bronze in Arab Taekwondo event

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait's military sports team's Sultan Al-Mutairi took bronze at the Arab Military Taekwondo Championship 74kg class in the Jordanian capital on Tuesday. The Kuwait Army Sgt First Class trailed behind competitors from Jordan and Algeria, but his compatriots Mesfer Al-Ajmi (58kg), Fawaz Bouresly (U-68kg) and Mishal Al-Mutairi (63kg) failed to win any medals in their classes. However, team official Mouayad Al-Sagubi believes the Kuwaiti side will be achieving more medals as it has done in regional and international events

The event is hosting 82 Taekwondokas from Kuwait, Algeria, Djibouti, Iraq, Bahrain, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Yemen, along with the host nation. Kuwait is using the competition as a stepping stone and preparation for the CISM World Military Men's Taekwondo Championship in Tehran, Iran in August and the Sixth World Summer Games in Mungyeong, South Korea in 2015, said Al-Sagubi. He commended the organisation of the event by the Jordanian Military Sports Council, and went on to identify the Kuwaiti team officials headed by Col Khaled Al-Enezi, and including himself, South Korean head coach Jon Li and Kuwaiti judge Yaqoub Al-Shatti
