Investment Minister Launches Digital Portal For Export, Import Control Authority Services

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, on Sunday launched a new electronic portal and automated system for services provided by the Environmental Verification and Authentication Unit and specialised conformity units at the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC).

The project has been implemented within the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, with participation from Microsoft and execution by Interact Technology Solutions.

Farid said the launch aligns with directives from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to advance digital transformation, modernise the state's administrative apparatus, streamline procedures, improve the investment climate, and enhance service efficiency for investors, exporters, and importers.

He added that the initiative is being closely followed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly as part of broader efforts to facilitate trade flows, reduce processing times, and strengthen coordination among relevant authorities-measures expected to boost the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and support export growth and investment inflows.

According to Farid, the project represents a key institutional step in upgrading the infrastructure underpinning foreign trade by digitising environmental verification, authentication, and conformity services through a more efficient and transparent system. The platform is expected to improve access for the business community, enhance procedural quality, provide accurate data for decision-making, and reduce administrative and operational burdens.

He stressed that the initiative goes beyond a technical upgrade, reflecting a broader shift towards delivering more disciplined, responsive public services tailored to the needs of stakeholders in the foreign trade ecosystem. Digital transformation in conformity and environmental verification services, he noted, has become a critical factor in strengthening international confidence in Egyptian products and expanding their access to global markets.

Farid highlighted that global trade is increasingly shaped by sustainability requirements, the green economy, emissions reduction, and stricter environmental and technical standards. This makes the development of verification and conformity services essential to enabling Egyptian companies to meet evolving international requirements, particularly in advanced markets.

He added that conformity and environmental verification certificates have evolved from regulatory procedures into competitive tools that enhance the credibility of Egyptian exports. The state, he said, is working to build an integrated system linking digital transformation, trade facilitation, sustainability, and export growth.

The minister also noted that the project complements Egypt's commitments under the Trade Facilitation Agreement, implemented since 2019 pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 553 of 2018, alongside ongoing reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and cross-border trade procedures.

The new system provides a structured digital pathway for submitting applications and tracking procedures related to environmental verification and conformity services, helping reduce time, cost, and effort for businesses while improving service quality and consistency.

Farid praised the cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology as a model of institutional integration, combining GOEIC's regulatory expertise with advanced technological capabilities. He also commended the role of Microsoft as a technology partner and Interact Technology Solutions for delivering a system aligned with user needs.

He affirmed that Egypt is continuing to develop faster, more transparent public service systems powered by modern technology, positioning government procedures as an enabler of economic activity and improving the overall business environment.

For his part, Essam El-Naggar, Chairperson of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, described the launch as a qualitative leap in the authority's services related to environmental verification, authentication, and conformity.

He said the initiative supports the state's strategic direction towards digital transformation, improved service quality, and enhanced transparency and governance, while facilitating trade and supporting exporters and importers.

El-Naggar added that the portal will provide streamlined access to services, electronic application submission, and real-time tracking, improving communication with users, shortening service delivery times, and raising overall user satisfaction.

He noted that the system will also enhance internal operations through improved data management, stronger monitoring capabilities, and measurable performance indicators, supporting better decision-making and continuous service development.

The project establishes a unified digital platform for environmental verification and conformity services, improving governance, creating a centralised and accurate database, and enabling advanced data analysis in line with international quality and sustainability standards.

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade said the launch marks another step in a comprehensive strategy to modernise foreign trade services and embed digitalisation as a sustainable institutional practice-supporting investment, facilitating trade flows, enhancing competitiveness, and expanding opportunities for Egyptian exports in global markets.

Concluding the event, Farid reaffirmed that Egypt-under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and with the government's continued oversight-is advancing reforms to modernise public services, strengthen private sector partnerships, and create a more efficient and transparent environment for the business community, in line with national objectives to boost exports and deepen Egypt's integration into regional and global markets.
