Jammu- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said the abrogation of Article 370 fulfilled the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and strengthened the foundations of national unity, asserting that India's rise is anchored in its shared heritage and collective strength.
Addressing a gathering at J&K Lok Bhavan during celebrations marking the Foundation Day of Gujarat and Maharashtra, Sinha said the country is witnessing a renewed sense of confidence, dignity and progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said the move of August 5, 2019, which led to the reorganisation of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir, reinforced the idea of“Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat” and advanced the process of national integration.
The Lieutenant Governor said India's strength lies in its unity in diversity, adding that the nation's cultural and civilisational heritage continues to guide its development trajectory.
“Unity amidst diversity is our greatest achievement. Our traditions, cultures and shared heritage together form the foundation of India's progress,” he said.

Highlighting Gujarat's contribution, Sinha referred to leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, who transformed the freedom struggle through his philosophy of truth and non-violence, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision laid the foundation of India's unity.
He also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that his leadership has reshaped the nation's development path through determination and governance reforms.
From Maharashtra, Sinha paid tribute to icons such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Peshwa Bajirao, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, noting their contributions to national unity and identity.
He also recalled the legacy of Ahilyabai Holkar, whose efforts helped revitalise spiritual traditions across the country.

“Over the past years, citizens have been inspired to transform resolve into action, reshaping the nation's landscape with development and determination,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor said the country is moving steadily towards the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, with a shared vision uniting all sections of society.
He said the journey ahead would continue to be guided by the principles of unity, inclusiveness and sustained development, drawing strength from India's rich cultural heritage.
Sinha said the celebrations of Gujarat and Maharashtra Foundation Day serve as a reminder of the nation's collective legacy and the enduring values that continue to shape its future trajectory.
