Türkiye's BIST 100 Closes Monday on High Note
(MENAFN) Türkiye's flagship equity index sealed a historic milestone on Monday, finishing the session at an unprecedented 14,594.01 points — marking a 1.28% gain over its previous close and setting a fresh all-time record.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 kicked off the week at 14,446.29 points before accumulating a net gain of 184.94 points through the session. The index oscillated between an intraday floor of 14,423.88 and a ceiling of 14,621.97 before locking in the record-breaking finish.
Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners 57 to 42 among index constituents, signaling broad-based buying momentum across the market.
The index's total market capitalization reached roughly 14.24 trillion Turkish liras — or $317.6 billion — underpinned by a healthy daily trading volume of 188.1 billion liras ($4.17 billion).
Commodity markets saw spot gold priced at $4,675.75 per ounce, while Brent crude futures changed hands at $108.9 per barrel, recorded at 6:20 p.m. local time (1520 GMT).
On the foreign exchange front, one US dollar purchased 45.0235 Turkish liras, the euro commanded 52.8765 liras, and the British pound stood firm at 61.0560 liras by session's end.
