South Korean President Embarks on India, Vietnam Tour

(MENAFN) South Korean President Lee Jae Myung left on Sunday for a two-country trip to India and Vietnam, where summit discussions are anticipated to center on reinforcing supply chain stability amid ongoing volatility in global energy markets driven by the Middle East conflict, according to various media sources.

During the initial phase of his journey, Lee is set to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in New Delhi. This development was highlighted by a news agency, which is headquartered in Seoul.

This upcoming engagement will represent the third face-to-face meeting between Modi and Lee, following their previous interactions held on the margins of last year’s G7 and G20 summits.

According to Seoul’s National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac, the dialogue is expected to emphasize strengthening economic partnerships across sectors such as shipbuilding, maritime industries, artificial intelligence, and defense. Additionally, both sides are likely to coordinate strategies to manage uncertainties in energy supply chains associated with developments in the Middle East.

Lee is also scheduled to participate in a business forum aimed at identifying fresh opportunities and enhancing support for Korean enterprises operating within India.

Following his visit to India, the South Korean president will travel to Hanoi on Tuesday for a state visit to Vietnam. There, he is expected to engage in talks on Wednesday with To Lam, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party.
