Protests in Stockholm Denounce Israel’s West Bank Annexation Plans
(MENAFN) Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in central Stockholm on Saturday to oppose reported Israeli plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank and to protest continued military actions in Lebanon, according to reports.
The rally, held at Odenplan Square and organized by multiple civil society groups, focused on what participants described as escalating regional policies and military operations by Israel.
Protesters accused Israel of violating a ceasefire agreement reached earlier in October, alleging strikes on civilian areas across both the West Bank and Lebanon. They also highlighted humanitarian concerns, carrying banners referencing civilian casualties, damage to infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, and shortages of essential goods.
An activist identified as Rana Qadri told reports that she views Israeli policy in Palestinian territories as part of a broader strategic agenda. She claimed that such policies reflect a long-term geopolitical objective, according to her remarks.
She also criticized what she described as limited international response, arguing that global reactions differ depending on the country involved. She pointed to recent legislative discussions in Israel regarding penalties for prisoners, saying similar proposals elsewhere would likely face stronger international condemnation, according to reports.
