Ukrainian Parliament Adopts Law Strengthening Control Over Product Quality
The implementation of the European integration law (No. 12426), aimed at improving market surveillance and technical regulation in line with EU norms, will enhance the effectiveness of product safety control and increase liability for violations of standards.
"Inspections and oversight will become uniform for goods sold in traditional stores as well as products sold via online platforms – marketplaces will be subject to the same level of supervision," the statement reads.
The adopted act is part of preparations for concluding the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA), an important step toward Ukraine's integration into the European Union's single market. It is expected to create conditions for the free circulation of Ukrainian goods in the EU and to increase trust in the national quality control system.
The law also expands the state's ability to respond promptly to consumer complaints and strengthens the protection of their rights to safe and high-quality products. For businesses, the new rules mean a level playing field and additional opportunities to enter European markets, the press service said.
On April 7, 2026, the Verkhovna Rada also adopted decisions enabling Ukraine to receive EU funding under the Ukraine Facility program.
