Hezbollah Unleashes 44 Strikes on Israeli Bases, Settlements

(MENAFN) Hezbollah announced Monday a sweeping offensive comprising 44 separate attacks against Israeli military installations, troop concentrations, and civilian settlements across northern Israel and southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese militant group, in a series of issued statements, declared the operations were conducted "in defense of Lebanon and its people," framing the assault as a direct response to unrelenting Israeli military activity in the country since March 2.

Among the targets were gatherings of Israeli soldiers and Merkava tanks operating in southern Lebanon, alongside military bases and logistical infrastructure in northern Israel and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Hezbollah disclosed that missile and drone strikes were directed specifically at the Givat Olga base, headquarters of Israel's Northern Command, and the Tsnobar base situated in the occupied Golan Heights.

The group also escalated its bombardment of northern Israeli population centers, with Nahariya, Kiryat Shmona, and Metula among the settlements struck, while drone attacks were simultaneously carried out against Israeli troop positions near the Lebanese border.

Israel has maintained an active campaign of airstrikes and ground operations in southern Lebanon since Hezbollah launched a cross-border offensive on March 2 — a resumption of hostilities that shattered a ceasefire that had been in place since November 2024.

Hezbollah has sustained its rocket barrages into Israel throughout early March, citing two core grievances: Israel's continued military strikes on Lebanese territory and the death of Iran's then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on February 28.
