France’s Air-to-Air Missile Supplies Deplete Amid UAE Drone Interceptions

(MENAFN) France is reportedly experiencing a shortage of MICA air-to-air missiles as its Rafale fighter jets remain actively engaged in intercepting Iranian drones over the United Arab Emirates, according to reports.

The sustained pace of operations has significantly depleted available stocks, raising concerns among defense officials about the impact on operational readiness, as stated by reports. The situation has sparked discussions in Paris on how to maintain current missions while ensuring long-term military preparedness.

Tensions in the Middle East have intensified following joint strikes by Israel and the United States on Iran on Feb. 28, which have resulted in over 1,300 deaths, including that of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports.

In response, Iran has launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets. These actions have caused casualties, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted both global markets and aviation operations.
