Viral Post: Bengaluru Man Says Rs 1.5 Lakh A Month Isn't Enough, Internet Reacts

A viral social media image depicts the grim reality of life in a metro city like Bengaluru, where a professional's monthly income of Rs 1.5 lakh supposedly leaves him with only Rs 20,000 in savings. A user related the experience of his cousin, who went to Bengaluru for work. His family and friends believed he had "made it," but a few months later, the truth was different. While his total costs reflect the city's high cost of living, several users argued that decisions make a big difference, and that spending sensibly may help you save more money.

"My cousin moved to Bangalore for a Rs 1.5L/month tech job. Six months later, he realised something no one tells freshers. Computer Science graduate. First software developer job. Moved to Bengaluru for better opportunities. Salary: Rs 1.5L per month," remarked the user @AlfinCodes on X (previously Twitter).

The user reported saving just Rs15K-20K at the end of the month due to subscriptions, medical expenditures, unexpected bills, and sending money home. "In your hometown, a salary of Rs 1 lakh or more sounds extravagant. But in a place like Bangalore, that usually simply means you're getting started," the user remarked.

The post, which received over 18,000 views and hundreds of likes, underlines the difficulties experienced by many professionals in Bengaluru, where high wages are frequently offset by exorbitant living expenses.

"Yes, that's true if you're working in your hometown, you're earning the most," a Twitter user said. "Big cities eat through your money quickly without your knowledge," another commented.

"It depends on where and how you live here. I stay in bsk, office is in ecity and rent is around 20k for an independent 2bhk house. House is old but locality is Gold. Also we have metro to ecity now so I don't feel hectic travelling from here. There is always an option here," a third user suggested.
