Iran War Is Finite in Scope, Netanyahu Says

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared Monday that the joint American-Israeli military campaign against Iran is finite in scope, pushing back against mounting international alarm over a conflict that has already claimed hundreds of lives and drawn the wider Middle East into turmoil.

"You're not going to have an endless war," Netanyahu told media.

The Israeli leader framed the offensive not as a war of destruction, but as a geopolitical reset — one he believes could unlock a new era of normalization across the Muslim world by dismantling the current Iranian government.

"We're going to create the conditions first for the Iranian people to get control of their destiny, to form their own democratically elected government, which will make a different Iran altogether," he said.

Netanyahu singled out Saudi Arabia as one of the countries he believes stands to gain most from a post-regime Iran, and cast the military operation as a foundation for wider regional diplomacy.

"So, this is a gateway for peace, for broader peace. And I believe that we can achieve it," he added.

Drawing a direct line to the Abraham Accords era, Netanyahu argued that his partnership with President Trump has already proven its diplomatic worth — and suggested history is now repeating itself on a larger scale.

"The most important thing to understand is that when we work together, President Trump and I, we achieved, in fact, four breakthroughs for peace. Brokered by President Trump working together with me, we brokered -- we brought forward the Abraham Accords, which was four peace treaties with four Arab countries."

"And now working together against Iran, we will be able to bring many, many more peace treaties. So, this is not an endless war. This is a gateway to peace. It's the exact opposite of what people are saying," he continued.

Trump Appeals Directly to Iranian Public
A day earlier, President Trump issued a direct appeal to ordinary Iranians, posting a video message to his Truth Social platform urging citizens to act. "I call upon all Iranian patriots who yearn for freedom to seize this moment, be brave, be bold, be heroic and take back your country," he said.

Mounting Casualties Cast Shadow Over Diplomatic Vision
The political messaging, however, has been met by a rapidly darkening humanitarian picture on the ground.

Joint US-Israeli airstrikes, which began Saturday, have reportedly killed several senior Iranian officials, among them Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran has since launched retaliatory drone and missile attacks on US-linked sites across Gulf states, killing six American service members and leaving several others critically wounded.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the death toll from strikes since Saturday has climbed to 555 — a figure that includes at least 165 schoolgirls, a detail likely to intensify global scrutiny of the campaign's civilian impact.
