Brazil Reaches Record In Passenger Traffic

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – The Ministry of Ports and Airports reported on Thursday (26) the highest monthly passenger traffic ever recorded in Brazil. In January, 12.37 million travelers were carried-9.3 million on domestic flights and 2.9 million on international routes. According to the ministry, the figures were compiled from a report by Brazil's civil aviation regulator ANAC.

Data from ANAC's Demand and Supply Report show that in January of last year, 11.3 million passengers were transported-2.7 million on international flights and 8.6 million on domestic routes. Those figures had already represented growth compared to January 2024.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Ministry of Ports and Airports, Minister Silvio Costa Filho said the performance is the result of investments in infrastructure, dialogue with airlines, and sector-focused policies.“The January figures and the projection for Carnival show that we are on the right track, with Brazilian aviation breaking records and contributing to economic development and tourism across the country,” he was quoted as saying in the statement.

Preliminary figures for Carnival indicate that 2.1 million passengers were transported between February 13 and 18, an increase of between 10% and 11% compared to Carnival 2025. The national secretary of Civil Aviation, Daniel Longo, said Brazil is“experiencing a new moment in aviation” by expanding connectivity and strengthening the regional air network.
