Trump Says Deadly Shooting of Minneapolis Protesters is “Not Justified”
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the deadly shootings of two protesters in Minneapolis by federal immigration agents were unjustified.
When asked during an Oval Office interview about the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, Trump stated: "No. I don't. It should have not happened." He described the incidents as tragic, noting: "It was a very sad incident, two incidents, and you know, they mentioned the one, now they don't mention the other. Well, I think they were both sad."
The remarks come amid ongoing demonstrations in Minnesota and across the country in response to federal immigration enforcement operations. Protests have continued for more than a month following the fatal shootings of Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse, on January 24, and Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, on January 7.
The deaths have intensified scrutiny of federal law enforcement practices in the state, with local and state officials calling for independent investigations and raising questions about cooperation with federal authorities. Tensions escalated nationwide as the incidents drew public attention to ICE operations and the safety of communities affected by immigration enforcement.
