(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that efforts to revitalize languages and elevate local culture in Jammu and Kashmir began in 2020 after decades, and stressed that preserving this heritage remains a collective responsibility.

“It is our duty to advance this heritage not merely as memory, but as a living, breathing tradition,” the Lieutenant Governor said while addressing the Akhil Bhartiya Hindi Kavi Sammelan at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. The event was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages as part of the Republic Day celebrations.

Extending his felicitations to the poets participating in the Sammelan, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the transformative role of the literary community, saying poets possess a unique power to reform society's inner character, propel social momentum, and infuse renewed vitality into the nation's consciousness.

“A truly prosperous society, rich in material progress yet balanced in culture and spirit, needs the essential contributions of both scientists and poets,” he said.

Reflecting on the essence of poetry, the Lieutenant Governor said it serves as a bridge between the tangible and the ethereal. He observed that poetry emerges when inner emotions transcend ordinary expression and crystallise into articulate form, resonating with the rhythm of existence.
