National Team Success Fuels Overseas Demand For Jordanian Players

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Jordan's recent footballing achievements have marked a turning point not only for the national team but also for the careers of its players. Qualification for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in the Kingdom's history, runners-up finish at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, and second place at the 2025 Arab Cup have collectively elevated Jordan's standing on the regional and continental stage.

These milestones have reshaped perceptions of Jordanian football, drawing increased attention from clubs across the Arab world, Asia and Europe. More than isolated successes, the results reflect a national team that has combined tactical discipline, physical intensity and mental resilience, qualities that have translated into growing confidence from foreign clubs in Jordanian talent.

Arab clubs have been at the forefront of recruiting Jordanian internationals, particularly in leagues that value physicality, tactical awareness and regional experience. Mohammad Abu Zrayq recently joined Morocco's Raja Club Athletic, placing him in one of North Africa's most competitive domestic environments and a regular contender in continental competitions.

In Iraq, Abdallah Nasib and Amer Jamous signed for Zawraa SC in 2025, while Muhannad Abu Taha joined Quwa Jawiya in the same year. The Iraqi league's rising profile and continental ambitions have made it an increasingly attractive destination for Jordanian players.

The Gulf has also seen a notable Jordanian presence. Kuwait's Kazma SC signed Yousef Abu Jazar and Ali Azayzeh in 2025, while Ali Olwan completed a move to Qatar's Sailiya this week, continuing a trend of Jordanian attackers finding opportunities in one of the region's most competitive leagues.

Yazan Naimat remains one of the most closely followed names. Reports indicate that Egypt's Ahly are in advanced negotiations to sign the striker from Qatar's Arabi, although talks have been delayed due to his recent injury. A move to Cairo would represent another significant step for a Jordanian player into elite continental competition.

Beyond the Arab world, Asia has emerged as a growing market for Jordanian talent. Yazan Arab joined South Korea's FC Seoul in 2024, becoming one of the few Jordanian players to feature in one of East Asia's strongest leagues.

In Malysia, Selangor FC signed Noor Rawabdeh and Mohammad Abu Nadi in 2025, underlining the increasing demand for Jordanian midfielders recognised for their work rate and tactical discipline.

Europe, though more selective, has also begun to open its doors to Jordanian players. Ibrahim Sabrah moved to Turkey's Goztepe last year, gaining experience in a competitive league known for its intensity and player development.

Most prominently, Mousa Tamari completed a move to French side Stade Rennais in 2025, arriving from Montpellier. His progression in Ligue 1 has further strengthened Jordan's profile in European scouting circles, with recent reports suggesting that several other European clubs are monitoring Jordanian players.

The growing presence of Jordanian players abroad reflects more than individual ambition. Each move provides valuable experience, exposing players to different tactical systems, training methods and football cultures. This experience feeds directly back into the national team, enhancing performance levels and tactical depth.

At the same time, overseas transfers and formal offers generate important income for local clubs, supporting youth development programmes and strengthening the sustainability of Jordan's domestic football structure.
