Pongal 2026 Release: Jockey To Vaa Vaathiyaar And More Movies Releasing In Theaters & OTT

The 2026 Pongal festival comes with many twists. Let's see which movies are releasing in theaters and on OTT for this year's Thai Pongal.

For the Pongal festival, 5 Tamil movies are set to release in theaters. Two films will be released on January 14th, and three will hit the screens on January 15th.

Vaa Vaathiyaar

Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and starring Karthi, Krithi Shetty, and Rajkiran, Vaa Vaathiyaar is scheduled to release in theaters on January 14th.

Jockey

Jockey, a film directed by Pragabhal centered around ram fighting, is also announced to be released on January 14th.

Draupathi 2

Draupathi 2, a grand film directed by Mohan G starring Richard Rishi and Natty Natraj, is set to release on January 15th. Ghibran has composed the music.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil

Starring Jiiva, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is coming to theaters as a Pongal treat this year. The film is directed by Nidhish Sahadev and releases on January 15th.

Server Sundaram

Server Sundaram, directed by Anand Balki and starring Santhanam, which has been shelved for a long time, is also reportedly releasing this Pongal.

120 Bahadur

Based on the Battle of Rezang La, this film shows the sacrifice of Major Shaitan Singh and 120 soldiers. It will stream on Amazon Prime Video on January 16th.

Bank of Bhagyalakshmi

The story of five amateur thieves who go to rob a village bank. It's a comedy-crime drama releasing on Amazon OTT on January 12th.

A thriller series surrounding a mysterious murder case in 1925 England. It streams on Netflix on January 15th.
