Awqaf Minister Doubles Teachers' Hajj Quota For 1447 AH Season
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Jan 7 (Petra) - Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh on Wednesday decided to increase the Hajj quota allocated to teachers from 60 to 120 pilgrims for the 1447 AH season, including mahrams of female teachers and wives of male teachers, following directives from Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan.
The move comes as part of a package of measures adopted by the government over recent months to support teachers. These included disbursing emergency advances to all applicants, allocating land plots for teachers' housing projects, and doubling the Royal Scholarship quota for teachers' children in higher education institutions from 5 percent to 10 percent, effective from the current academic year.
The ministry also allocated 5 percent of the total grants and loans provided by the Student Support Fund to teachers' children at universities, in addition to carrying out maintenance of teachers' clubs, improving their services, and constructing teachers' clubs in governorates where none exist.
