Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, DHL Sign Framework Agreement To Accelerate Decarbonization Of Air-Freight Industry

Dhaka: Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP Cargo) and DHL Global Forwarding (DHL) signed a new framework agreement covering 2025–2027 to advance the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and accelerate decarbonization of the air-freight industry.

The newly signed agreement is a continuation of their initial 2022-2024 agreement, and it introduces a clear focus on emission reduction claims, emphasizing market-ready proven models.

As part of the new agreement, AFKLMP Cargo and DHL reduced 35,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent WTW (Well-to-Wheel) emission in 2025 alone. Targets for 2026 and 2027 will be defined over time.

Instead of depending entirely on SAF purchases, the partnership is centered on a structured, long-term approach to foster the adoption of sustainable aviation fuels and digital verification processes in the marketplace.

In recent years, AFKLMP Cargo has been at the forefront of customer-oriented SAF programs, while DHL has embedded SAF into its GoGreen Plus service as a central lever for its climate targets.

Together, with their industry-level expertise and a shared vision, the companies aim to further develop book-and-claim models that ensure businesses, regardless of their size, have access to reliable and scalable emission reduction solutions, even if sustainable fuels and technologies are not yet physically available on their trade lanes.

Previously, under the initial agreement, AFKLMP Cargo and DHL reduced 77,595 tons of CO2e between 2022 and 2024, while customers benefited from the ability to progress toward their science-based carbon-reduction targets.

AFKLMP Cargo and DHL believe the extension of their partnership reaffirmed the vital role of long-term collaboration in accelerating the aviation industry's transition to low-carbon solutions.
