Asian Leaders Share New Year Messages
(MENAFN) On Thursday, leaders across Asia welcomed the start of the new year with expressions of optimism, solidarity, and peace, while also presenting visions for stability, prosperity, and advancement in the months ahead.
Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China had successfully completed its 14th Five-Year Plan, achieving notable progress in economic resilience, technological innovation, environmental protection, and public welfare.
He attributed these accomplishments to the dedication and collective spirit of the Chinese people, according to a news agency.
Looking toward 2026 and the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Xi urged confidence, reform, openness, and sustainable development, while reaffirming China’s pledge to global cooperation and peaceful engagement.
In his New Year address, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that his government had made tough but essential choices to stabilize the economy, rebuild trust, and place the nation on a trajectory of recovery and long-term growth.
"Pakistan continues to engage the world with confidence and responsibility," he stated on U.S. social media platform X. Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to peace, regional balance, and multilateral collaboration, highlighting dialogue over conflict and cooperation over unilateral actions.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his New Year greetings, wishing citizens well-being, prosperity, and success in their pursuits.
