The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the temporary recruitment of 10,074 primary school teachers across the province under a new policy to address the shortage of teachers in government schools.
According to the Education Department, these recruitments will be carried out entirely through the Talent Pool under the prescribed procedure, with appointments made via Parent Teacher Councils (PTCs).
In summer zone schools, teachers will be hired for five months, from January 16 to May 31, while in winter zone schools, teachers will be appointed for four months, from March 1 to June 30.
Documents show that in the settled districts, 2,910 teachers will be recruited for boys' schools and 2,935 teachers for girls' schools, bringing the total number of temporary teachers in settled districts to 5,845.
Similarly, approval has been granted for the temporary recruitment of 4,229 teachers for boys' and girls' schools in the merged districts, including Khyber, Bajaur, Kurram, Mohmand, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Orakzai, and other sub-divisions.
The Education Department stated that the initiative aims to prevent disruption to the educational process and provide an immediate solution to the difficulties faced by students due to the shortage of teachers. According to the government, these temporary recruitments will help improve educational activities in remote and underdeveloped areas.
